Cat Hero Saves Owner
Do you trust your cat with your life? We’d like to think we do! A woman in England recently had to place her life in the paws of her cat. Thankfully Piran, a lucky black cat from Cornwall, saved his elderly owner who had fallen down a hill.

When his owner went missing, Piran jumped to the rescue! He meowed and continuously paced on a path that eventually led a neighbor to his owner. The neighbor said that Piran led them to a spot that was hidden from view and would have been extremely difficult to find without his help.

Because of Piran’s dedication, his owner is safe and sound - and sources say Piran has been rewarded with plenty of treats!

DIY Punch Needle Pet Pad
We all know cats love boxes, and they love most things square shaped too, so they’ll love this cozy handmade pet pad!

This craft is perfect for those interested in trying a new hobby while giving their kitten a comfy place to lounge at the same time. For this craft, you’ll need either:

  • A punch needle basic kit (with punch needle, frame, pattern, and yarn) - we suggest this if you’re new to punch needling

Or:

  • A punch needle

  • Wooden frame of desired size (20 inches is suggested)

  • Yarn in desired color

  • Marker

  • Fabric scissors

  • Monk’s cloth

  • Elmer’s glue

  • Paintbrush

  • Felt piece

  • Staple gun

  • Staple remover/canvas pliers

If you’re going with the second option, you’ll need to attach your monk’s cloth to the frame before you can begin punch needling.

Once your framed cloth is ready, you’ll need to thread your punch needle and get to it! Feel free to get creative with colors and patterns once you’ve gotten the hang of it. Once you’re done punch needling, follow the finishing instructions to reveal your art - don’t forget to let the glue on the back dry before your kitty takes a nap on their new pet pad!

Forget Me Not - Cats and Dogs Help Owners with Memory Loss Later in Life
Cats are more than just curious cuties! A preliminary study suggests that owning a pet may help fight off cognitive decline. We’ve already seen studies proving that cats and dogs help humans lower their stress levels and even blood pressure, so this is more good news!

The study followed over 1,000 adults over the course of six years and showed that during testing, cognitive scores decreased slower in pet owners than non pet owners. It also showed that long term pet ownership helped prevent memory loss even more.

So next time your cat’s curiosity causes chaos, remember the future benefits of their fluffy presence.
