Presidential Paws
There’s a new cat in the White house this year, but she’s not the first presidential cat. Willow Biden joins the ranks of about a dozen cats to have called the White House home.

Turns out Abraham Lincoln was the first president to bring cats into the White House, and he was a known cat lover. His wife even stated his hobby was “cats” - that’s something we’d like known about us too! The White House even hosted the first known Siamese cat in the US in 1878, a gift to Rutherford B. Hayes’ wife.

Many other presidents owned cats, including Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, and John F. Kennedy, as well as more recently Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

We wish Willow the best in her new house - it’s definitely a different world than her previous life as a barn cat!

DIY 3 Ingredient Salmon Cat Treat
Looking for a simple DIY to treat your feisty feline? We found a whisker lickin’ three ingredient salmon treat recipe for you.

  • You’ll need: Salmon, egg, and flour

  • First, chop or use a food processor to break up the canned or cooked salmon.

  • Add all 3 ingredients to a mixer until it forms a dough.

  • Roll out the dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut into shapes (we like tiny fish shapes!)

  • Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

We’re sure your cat will pounce on these as soon as they’ve cooled down!

Did Isaac Newton Invent the Cat Flap?
If you haven’t heard, legend says that Isaac Newton was the inventor of the cat flap.

The story goes that while experimenting in a dark room, his cat kept pushing the door open and exposing sensitive materials to light. To combat this purr-oblem, rumor has it that Newton cut a hole in the bottom of his door and covered it with black cloth to let his cat in and out freely.

However, this myth has been busted: it isn’t plausible that Newton was the true inventor since cat flaps have been documented in many forms long before Newton lived. However, it seems there may be some truth to this myth, as a room in Trinity College that Newton used has two filled cat sized holes - one for mama cat and one for her kitten!

True or False?
