“I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.”
― Jean Cocteau

Eco-Artist Builds Cat Shelters out of Tires
No kitty should be left out in the cold, but many stray cats are often left without many options during the winter. Egyptian eco-artist Abougendy has found a creative fix for this problem.
Abougendy has designed eco-responsible homes for street cats in Cairo and beyond. Better yet, he’s made these houses out of used tires and recycled wood, helping the planet while keeping kitties warm and safe.
Each thermally insulated home can house up to 5 cats, making these eco-friendly houses a home for any cat family in need of one. We love these “sheltires” and hope to see them implemented in more cities in the future!

TV Streaming Videos for Your Cat
Does your indoor cat need a bit more enrichment? Show them some of these pawsome videos designed for cats. But beware, your cat may start demanding you change the channel next time you want to relax with your own favorite TV show!
Some of our favorites include Birds Chirping in Autumn, which is a great choice for a cat you catch chatting with the birds outside their window. Cat Games is great to show on a tablet since it will drive your cat crazy by showing mice running across the screen! Famished for fish? Don’t worry, there’s a 3 hour long video of swimming fish available too.
Did your cat enjoy any of these videos? Let us know or send us pics of them watching to meow@dailypurrcats.com!
The First (and Only) Cat in Space
Have you ever heard of the cat who went to space? We hadn’t, but it’s a story from cat history worth hearing!
A Parisian street cat named Felicette was the first and only brave cat to go to space. Chosen from over a dozen other French feline spaceflight trainees, she alone left the earth on October 8th, 1963. After 15 minutes in space she landed back on earth safe and sound (we assume on all four paws, like all cats land!).
Although we didn’t know her story, plenty did, and a Kickstarter was created in her honor to fund a memorial for her. The fundraising campaign was successful and Felicette now has a statue in her honor at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. Now this little known space cat will be celebrated for the pioneer she was!
