Stray Cats Save Model Train Cafe
Many businesses have struggled because of Covid-19, and a small cafe in Osaka Japan was no different. This miniature railway themed cafe was doing well until the pandemic hit, when they began to lose business. Even in his time of trouble, business owner Naoki Teraoka couldn’t turn his back on a hungry stray cat outside the cafe. Soon one cat turned into two, then three, then more.
These lucky stray cats soon became Catzillas - they started lounging around the model trains and scenery in the cafe. Teraoka posted pictures of the cats on Instagram and was inspired to let the cats move in permanently as a part of the cafe’s new theme: giant cats and tiny trains!
The cafe is now bustling with customers, and better yet, it has helped over 60 stray cats find new homes. One good deed has changed Teraoka’s life and the lives of many cats - we’d say that’s cat-tastic!

Cat Backpack Tips
Have you ever considered using a cat backpack with your feline friend? We’ve found some tips to make the experience enjoyable for both you and your cat.
Find a good quality backpack. Make sure your cat backpack has enough ventilation, is a good size, is made of a durable material, and isn’t completely see-through (so that your cat feels safe and can “hide”).
Take time to introduce your cat to the backpack. One good way to do this is to simply leave the cat backpack out in the open for a few days for your cat to explore. Add in a few treats and your cat will definitely be interested!
Start with short trips. Once your cat has had a chance to fully approve the cat backpack, it’s time to start adventuring - but start slow! You might even just take a walk in the house first.
Remember safety. Keep other backpacks out of reach so that your cat isn’t confused and always use a cat carrier for long journeys.
We hope these tips help you and your cat enjoy your new cat backpack, or inspire you to try one!

Alaskan Cat Mayor, Stubbs
The small town of Talkeetna, Alaska has a population of under 900 residents, and in 1997, they couldn’t agree upon a suitable mayor amongst them. Enter a kitten with no tail named Stubbs, an unlikely write-in candidate who won the vote!
After his win, Stubbs the orange tabby set up shop in the general store and began his reign, starting as a small kitten. Though the title of mayor was more symbolic, the town adored Stubbs, and he went on to govern for 20 years, spending his whole life serving those in his community. One resident noted that Stubbs was honest and didn’t raise taxes - a great track record for a politician!
Stubbs’ brother Denali is the new cat mayor of Talkeetna, and we’ve heard he’s doing a great job!
