This Deaf Cat Explores London by Bicycle
Did you know that white cats with blue eyes are very likely to be deaf? In fact, Sigrid the long haired Norwegian forest cat is an example of one of the 4 out of 5 white cats that is deaf, but she doesn’t let that stop her from exploring. Sigrid has always liked taking walks on a leash, so her owner decided to see if she’d enjoy a bike ride.

Sigrid enjoyed it so much that she’s spent the last 18 months in the basket of her owner’s bicycle, safely harnessed in to enjoy the rides. Don’t worry, Sigrid gets sunscreen on her ears and safety goggles for windy weather. Cyclists and pedestrians alike ooh and ahh over Sigrid, and her owner frequently stops to let them give her chins scratches.

Although Sigrid isn’t very aerodynamic, she adds joy to her owner’s and passerbys’ days. She’s truly living her best adventurous life!

DIY Wine Cork Kitty Toy
The next time you open a bottle of wine, don’t toss the cork - consider turning it into a DIY cat toy!

For this craft you’ll need:

  • Wine cork(s)

  • Epoxy glue

  • Trimmings like feathers, pipe cleaners, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Steam or boil your wine corks to sanitize them and also make them a bit softer. Then use scissors or a knife to cut a hole about one inch into the cork

  2. Put the trimmings together so that the end of the feathers or pipe cleaners make a point, and stick them together with a bit of glue.

  3. Place a bit of glue in the hole in the wine cork (when it’s dry) and add the trimmings.

Make sure the glue is completely dry and then let your cat enjoy their new upcycled toy!

How Often Should You Wash Your Cat’s Bed?
Just like we wash our sheets to keep them fresh, cat beds need to be washed to keep cats clean and healthy.

A dirty pet bed can expose your cat to bacteria, fleas and mites, or even intestinal parasites. This means you should make sure your cat’s bed is machine washable, or that it at least has a machine washable cover.

But how often should you be washing your cat’s bed? Pet experts say that unless your cat has gotten into a mess, washing their bed every other week should be sufficient. However, watch out for dirt, shedding, or odor, as those are signs that the bed should be washed immediately. Don’t forget to use a pet friendly detergent and hot water, following the wash label’s instructions. Using these tips will keep your cat’s bed comfy and cozy, the perfect place for a cat nap.
